Apparently Channel 4 confirmed that both “Trainspotting” and “Shallow Grave” are planned on HD DVD in the UK.
Channel 4 is the studio which released the last major HD DVD in Britain.

It’s hard to predict the release dates, but it seems that March 2009 might be a realistic estimate, for Channel 4 is planning Special Editions for both these titles on SD DVD. However, Amazon.co.uk says that Trainspotting is to be released in October 2008.
